Founder and heart of Trinova Wellness Centre, Dr. Jennifer combines psychotherapy and functional nutrition to create holistic care plans that support mind, body, and wellness. She leads the clinic as CEO, ensuring every client receives compassionate, personalized care.

My Journey

When I decided to pursue a career as a psychotherapist, I started off by thinking I'd use what I'd learned in school to help people transform their lives by challenging their belief systems and shifting their mindset. I never imagined how much I was going to also need to apply what I learnt to get unstuck and emerge much stronger. Today, as both a recipient and advocate of psychotherapy, I have discovered that there are patterns embedded in the way we believe and think that conditions our behaviour.

Areas of Focus

Adults who are experiencing challenges with anxiety, depression, chronic pain, PTSD, trauma, life purpose, faith and spirituality and much more.

Treatment Approach

My primary theoretical orientation is cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, mindfulness practices, emotion focused therapy and solution focussed therapy.

Stacy provides psychotherapy services with a focus on emotional health, resilience, and mental well-being. She supports clients with evidence-based strategies to navigate life's challenges.

Professional Background

I am a registered psychotherapist and counsellor who works in the post-MVA rehabilitation and WSIB field providing assessments and psychotherapy counselling. I hold a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology and am a registered psychotherapist in the Province of Ontario. I have been providing psychotherapy counselling for 19+ years to adults, youth, couples and families. I am also a member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP). I worked in this field of psychotherapy counselling for over 16 years at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, ON, with extensive individual and group therapy experience working with diverse clients through a variety of life challenges.

Treatment Approach

My approach is client-centred, holistic, practical and trauma-informed. I use Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Cognitive processing (CPT), Dialectical-behavioural (DBT), Emotion-focused (EFT), Attachment, Narrative, Creative, Family systems as well as exposure therapy, brief solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing and mindfulness/grounding to address your unique needs. My approach to wellness is holistic (exploring emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical aspects of one's life). I provide a supportive and warm environment for clients to safely explore challenges, conflicts and issues to achieve better emotional, mental, spiritual and physical health for satisfying relationships. Shanna-Kay helps individuals, families, couples and communities overcome barriers and life stressors to heal and thrive.

My Approach

Given the everyday busyness of life, I believe it is important to slow down and take time for you and matters close to your heart. My approach begins with offering clients a listening ear, providing compassion, and building an understanding of their issue. From this base, I work collaboratively to outline goals which facilitate the change clients desire in their lives and seek to provide an alternative perspective regarding the identified issue. With a heart for the home and family, I encourage individuals and families to explore counselling for self-care, balance, and well-being because it starts with you.

Areas of Focus

Couples and family work to explore relationship breakdowns and to build trust, intimacy, and effective communication skills; parenting work; youth and adults and their families who struggle with depression, anxiety, identity, self-esteem, anger, grief and loss, life transitions, parent-teen conflict, workplace stress, trauma, systemic racism and oppression, school issues and advocacy, learning/developmental disabilities, ADHD.

Treatment Approach

My primary approach is brief solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy. I believe that systems of oppression also impact the mental health of individuals, families, and communities. As such, as a Black female therapist, I approach my work using the following lenses: anti-oppression, anti-Black racism, and anti-Indigenous racism.

My work has spanned many areas—anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, chronic pain, and life transitions—and what I've learned is that every client carries within them the capacity for change and growth. My role is to help uncover that strength and guide the process using evidence-based approaches like CBT, ACT, solution-focused therapy, and trauma-informed care.
